In the midst of my incredibly busy schedule
and me swooning over these pictures
I realized I never shared any wedding pictures.
(Here we are six months later)
The lovely Amber Mozo photographed our wedding day.

I re-live this day in my head too often.

9/21/14

Happiness is a simple thing.
Or at least it should be. My husband says...
"Happiness is a choice"

I have been sick this past week.
Not flu sickness, just lack of sleep, congestion
& headache sickness, you know, the works.
This afternoon I got out of bed to go see
my husband and there he was over the stove.
Cooking me ramen under our florescent
kitchen light, as the light rain fell outside
our kitchen window.

This was one of my favorite moments of
my life. No I wasn't exploring the hagia
sofia, running through the old city of jerusalem,
swimming with dolphins in the pacific
or dropping in on a wave.
But I was overcome with an
overwhelming amount of happiness.

Happiness is simple.
My husband in our little home
cooking our 18 cent packets of soup.
This is happiness.

Everything was simple and flawless.
I will never forget this day.

Humans of NY

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

This past week humans of NY stated a journey around the globe. It is a 50 days trip partnered with the UN. In these 50 days they will visit 10 countries. The purpose of this tour is to raise awareness for millennium development goals. In addition, it will help inspire and help people develop a global perspective. There are so many challenges we all need to tackle together. These are a few of my favorites so far.

"I want to be a pilot so I can fly everywhere" (Dhana, Jordan)

"What happened to your arm?" "I Was walking down the stairs and looking                      at the stars." (Amman, Jordan)

"She always dreams about the bombs." (Erbil, Iraq)

"Swimming is the greatest thing in life. If we have time, we swim seven times per day." (Kalak, Iraq)

"My parents were captured when I was sixteen. They both died in prison."
"What do you remember about the day they were taken?"
"I'm sorry. I don't think I can do this. Can we stop?" (Shaqlawa, Iraq)

We can learn from everyone around us everyday.

To say I love Hawaii is an understatement.
It will be a part of me forever.
This semester takes the cake.

When I was 18 years old I got on a plane to Hawaii
I was completely alone and I was moving to a place were I knew no one.

let me tell you, this was the scariest thing I had ever done,
but every 18 years old should do it.

i remember stepping off the plane in Honolulu that September night.
The air was so thick you can practically drink it,
and the smell of plumerias is so thick you can essentially taste it.

after four years in the humidity and plumeria filled air everything has changed
this once, foreign place, is now my home.

the past four year have been the most wonderful years of my life
It was full of adventure, happiness, heartbreak, and sorrow.
I experienced my highest highs and lowest lows.

I floated on my back in the pacific, in the warm blue salty water.
I swam with wild dolphins and snuck onto pirate ships.
I learned to not fear highs and conquered jumps one at a time.
I jump out of a plane twice more than my mother would have approved.
I learned to surf, to become one with the earth.
I swam with sharks and saw the most amazing whales.
I hiked and I played on rope swings.
I trespassed and experienced some of the most beautiful places on earth.
I had sand fights and never thought my hair would be the same.
I hitch hiked and thought that I would never step out of that car alive.
I jumped off of waterfalls into freezing pools of water.
I learned how long I could go without washing my hair until I got dreads.
I learned what true friendship is and how to see it when it looks you in the eyes.
I swam in waves that almost killed me and probably should have.
I learned to love and experienced my first broken heart.
I laid awake a night crying, I experienced sorrow I wouldn't wish upon anyone.
I met some incredible people that will be a part of me forever.
and i found a love so real it followed me to my favorite place,
i know that it is an eternal love that means more to me than anything.

I could go on forever... but you get the point
the best days of my life
ended with the best person.

So thank you Hawaii.
One day I will be back for you.
a star is held together by the struggle of two forces;
gravity pulls everything towards the center while heat pushes the opposite direction

when this balance it thrown off the star produces helium to try to calm the nuclear reaction
from here, it explodes, or becomes a supernova.

right now I feel like a star experiencing a foreign chemical imbalance
my heart is bursting into a million little pieces
the way you would imagine a star to explode into space

i am learning that there is a time where you have to move on
you have to spread yourself into a million little pieces

these pieces become memories
and those memories are what will change you forever

these memories, experiences, and knowledge have to be spread
they have to be spread to grow.

I know that I am going to keep learning & i am going to have more experiences
and memories that will last me a lifetime
because nothing lights up the cosmos like a supernova.
