Here are some beautiful wise words.
I actually attack the concept of happiness. The idea that - I don’t mind people being happy - but the idea that everything we do is part of the pursuit of happiness seems to me a really dangerous idea and has led to a contemporary disease in Western society, which is fear of sadness. It’s a really odd thing that we’re now seeing people saying “write down 3 things that made you happy today before you go to sleep”, and “cheer up” and “happiness is our birthright” and so on. We’re kind of teaching our kids that happiness is the default position - it’s rubbish. Wholeness is what we ought to be striving for and part of that is sadness, disappointment, frustration, failure; all of those things which make us who we are. Happiness and victory and fulfillment are nice little things that also happen to us, but they don’t teach us much. Everyone says we grow through pain and then as soon as they experience pain they say “Quick! Move on! Cheer up!” I’d like just for a year to have a moratorium on the word “happiness” and to replace it with the word “wholeness”. Ask yourself “is this contributing to my wholeness?” and if you’re having a bad day, it is.”

Elder Tad R. Callister is in the Holy Land and he chose to sit with us for Thanksgiving Dinner. He is so incredible and everyone should read his book the Infinite Atonement because it is incredible. His wife is so lovely and we were so blessed to have them.

There are a million things i could tell you I am thankful for today but for now lets just say I am grateful for the atonement
i am grateful for my family
i am grateful for this semester studying the saviors life
i am grateful for the amazing people i have met here in jerusalem
i am grateful for my scotty
i am grateful for the opportunity to eat thanksgiving dinner with a general authority
i am so grateful for this world and the wonders it has out there for us to explore
and i am so grateful for this gospel and the opportunities and knowledge it gives us each and everyday.

Somedays i have to take a moment and remind myself why I am in Jerusalem for the first place. Look at this city, it's beautiful.
The best part is the most beautiful part is not the city, it is the history.

There is something to be said about the power that comes from peoples beliefs. We went to eight churches on our field trip today and i couldn't tell you the names of any but two. But i do know that the Lord loves each one of his children no matter what religion they are a part of and I know that there is truth in every religion. I believe that there is beauty in the way that every different person worship and beauty in their beliefs.
Brother Belnap and Brother Seely are the dynamic duo.
