a kiss is art

Monday, January 30, 2012

I realized this weekend I'm kinda anti social
lets just say
big groups of people aren't really my scene.

for now..

I want to spend my Saturday nights
at art museums, coffee shops
and this house--preferably reading.
isn't it perfect?

love,
nich

I always run a little late on setting my new year resolutions
and to be honest every year without fail this happens..
can't quite figure it out..
last year they didn't get set till the beginning of march so improvement has been made.

i got some high expectation of myself
not sure if that a good thing so here we go..

I am going to laugh so much that my
face is sore as many times as possible.

a couple weekends ago this happened to me
it was just about one of the greatest things
that has ever happened to me-- I want to
experience this again and again.

I am going to go somewhere new.. somewhere
 I have never been before.

Why not right?

Don't gossip

easier said than done..but I'm determined
small people talk about other people
average people talk about things
and great people talk about ideas
I'm gonna shoot to be one of the greats

Never neglect the beauty that surrounds
me where ever I may be

I forget how perfect the world around me is
I am gonna breathe it in and
try to hold my breath.

Wear heels more often

As the Monte Carlo would say
if they ain't hurting they ain't helping.

I am going to read my little heart out

I have to read at least 12 books
including:
The China Study
The Hunger Games Series
The Book of Mormon
The Anatomy of Peace
Walden Life in the Woods

more to come..

Jump off more things

such a scaredy cat
its gonna happen.

I am going to live within my means

No reason not to.

Open my heart to things it
hasn't been before

this just sound exciting.

Grow closer to the Lord.

Definite first priority
nothing could sound better.

2012.
So excited.

Every year I get a terrible case of spring fever..
it came early this year.
what did i do today?
lets see..
went to class
went to work
took my first accounting test
blair my bike had a seizure and completely broke down
had the most delightful conversations with Dad and Si
I laid on temple beach basking in the Hawaiian sun
I longboarded barefoot to chev with stac for melon slurpees
then to the temple and got blister battle wounds
sat on the tower admiring the beauty of the world
went on a tiny boat all the way to peanut island
snorkeled in the clearest shark infested water I've ever seen
sat in that little boat all through golden hour
watched the sunset from the middle of the ocean
watched the rainbow sky of pastels fade from the horizon
met locals that fed me and Stac some type of sea slugs right out of the water
they now call us locals we graduated the haole name
busted my butt with homework after returning from our 2 hour boat ride
got a terrible case of spring fever that I don't believe will ever go away
and now I am writing about this flawless day
listening to the beatles--it just got even better.

salt water in my veins.

Friday, January 13, 2012

Sometimes i feel like i have salt water in my veins
not like a constant sting flowing through my body
but a part of the ocean that brings me peace;
the ocean has always had the power to do this for me.

it's like those days when you can feel the
earth is round beneath your feet,
when you realize you are a speck in a
speck of a tiny little speck,
but you still know you are important and how lucky
and blessed you are to be where you've arrived.

The other day I was standing on top of crouching lion this
is when I, once again, was reassured by
the peaceful grace the ocean brings
the view down was one of the most
 peaceful things I've ever encountered.
In the center of kahana bay there was a ripple that continued
perfectly until it reached the shoreline.

Then for as far as I could see the horizon was steady,
the beauty was flawless and it was one of those moments
when I felt like salt water was raging through me
as if it was becoming a part of me.

I'm not quite sure when this salt water made
 it's way into my veins
but there are days when I am almost sure it's there
this probably started when I was a toddler
running around moonlight beach eating donuts
and my mother distracting me from my chicken pocks
as I built sand castles at ocean beach.
or
It could just be the fact that
I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world
but time after time I am amazed at
the beauty that the ocean brings
and just like that ripple effect into
kahana bay and the peace it brings me
the ocean has the power to make you feel that beneath your feet, the earth is round,
and realize the steady horizon and how it never ends.

try to feel the salt water run through your veins,
it's really good.

the guava lie.

You should about all things be glad and young
For if you're young, whatever life you wear

it will become you; and if you are glad
whatever's living will yourself become.

we are endless.

its time and i can't wait.
It's time to get back to..
  the canal
watching the sunrise before school
partner yoga every night
sand in my sheets
salt in my hair
sunburned skin
sand on my feet in the library
sunkissed blonde hair
being a mermaid
wavestorming at castles
turtle bay being a verb
long talks
super saturdays
laughing with the adventure house
picnics that need to occur more often
hiking the muddiest hikes
going on the longest adventures
the sound of temple beach from my bed
jumping off things
driving along the coast
getting pounded
acai bowls
hawaiian rain storms
blair my cute bike
being surround by beauty
and another perfect semester.

can't wait.
